Will I get to meet Buddy Valastro AKA Cake Boss on the Hoboken Food Tour?
Probably not. Keep in mind that all the establishments we visit are working businesses not museums. Because of the success of Cake Boss the bakery is extremely busy at all times. In addition, the second floor of the bakery where the specialty cakes are made is climate controlled and not open to members of the public.
I have heard that the line to make a purchase at Carlo's Bake Shop, particularly on weekends, can be a few hours long. By taking the 'Hoboken Food Tour' can I avoid waiting on line?
No. The Hoboken Food Tour does not receive any special treatment from Carlo's Bake Shop. The only way to avoid waiting on line is to pre-order your baked goods from Carlo's Bake Shop (201-659-3671, 201-659-3480) at least 24 hours prior to your visit to Hoboken or by placing an order on-line at http://holiday.carlosbakery.com/pickup/
I am trying to book a tour for a particular date but it is sold out. What should I do?
Check our web site frequently. As tours fill up we make every effort to add additional tours to meet demand. If all else fails please call our office at 201-653-1500 and we will try to accommodate you.
Can I pay for my tour in cash on the day of the tour?
Since we are limited in our group size we prefer that you purchase your tickets in advance by clicking on the 'Purchase Tickets' link in the left column. If there are still spaces available on the day of the tour we will accept a cash payment. Payment must be made prior to the start of your tour.
What should I bring to the tour?
The tour involves about 1.5 miles of walking with frequent stops and follows the motto of the United States Postal Service that 'Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night' will stop us from completing the Hoboken Food Tour. In other words the tour happens no matter what the weather might be so please dress appropriately and bring proper hydration for warmer days. Photographs are permitted at all stops. You will be given a tour pamphlet which contains some great coupons for our host locations. We recommend that you bring a sturdy re-usable shopping bag for your purchases and wear comfortable shoes.
What is your refund policy?
Tickets purchased are non-refundable and can only be used for the stated date and time.
What type of food samples will be given?
Food samples will contain wheat and dairy products. All food sampled is available for purchase as well.
What is the tipping policy?
It is customary to give your tour guide a 15% gratuity if you received exceptional service.
Do you offer private tours?
Absolutely. The Hoboken Food Tour is a great for birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, corporate events etc. We can arrange a private tour with 48 hour advance notice. Please contact us for details.
What does the word 'mangia' mean?
'Mangia' is the Italian word for 'eat'. An activity that you will be performing frequently on this tour!
